Aaaah I messed up the eyes and chin! But it was definitely fun drawing her, she’s so pretty! I really only wanted to attempt this digitally, because of how much black there was and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do the highlights properly. It didn’t turn out so bad!

Now I have to get out of my face shot comfort zone and really get more practice on full body and hands…

I’ve been too afraid to try this drawing even though I’ve wanted to for a while. There’s this fear that I won’t capture his likeness, and the main mission – drawing hands! These hands are hard! But it’s a style of hands that I’ve not drawn before and it was my main focus.

Grandson portrait

This one was interesting to draw! As always, displaying my Photoshop Takes Zero Skill heavily filtered pic, but I do want to post some WIPs too!

I wanted to try something different for this – I really like the angle and lighting of this shot, but it was too daunting to approach with pencil because it was extremely black heavy, and I don’t like having to spend so much pencil lead on paper because it’s so tedious, not to mention the graphite goes everywhere and is prone to smudging! So I decided to start my digital canvas black, and worked my way towards white. It kind of worked???
