  • Rockpool Bar and Grill bar

So I went to Rockpool Bar and Grill’s bar for some fantastic no-booking needed yet classy dinner. Ordered their oysters, and the lemon that came with it had mesh over it! Was very happy about that. The garlic vinaigrette dressing that it came with was also tasty, but I think the dressing provided by Tetsuya’s was better. I tend not to like natural oysters, but rather with heavier sauce flavours. Also, I had to taste the best burger in town – David Blackmoore’s full blood wagyu burger. It was interesting that it came as a burger with a nicely toasted bun – that was amazing, but also had two pieces of lettuce and tomato just sitting there on the side, which I thought was a little weird for a place as nice as Rockpool. Either way, the burger had some great flavours. Very simple, but it was nice and not heavy. Also tasted their hand cut chips with tomato sauce, and wow, such clean, natural tasting sauce. The dessert I tried was their dark chocolate pudding tart with chocolate sorbet, which was a little too rich – which meant it was probably very rich. It was delicious though.

Also I think I am turning into an almost real coffee snob. I’m starting to really like espressos – the flat whites I get nowadays are a little underwhelming, even though they used to be so nice. I always get the single origins, but I don’t think I can actually taste the difference between all the beans haha. However it’s a nice feeling and I love that strong hit which is so tasty. Plus the baristas at Workshop and Swallow always make sure the shots are awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

    I love food.

  • EVE + Single Origins moar

Been playing EVE and it’s fun! I get to buy boats and fly around in them.

Also, trying to get a single origin espresso at Workshop Espresso is difficult, I tried two times and I fail, and the barista even said so! XD

So instead I bought some single origin chocolate, but I am skeptical as to whether the flavours are as unique as coffees, considering that chocolates have sugar added to them. I’ve tasted the Ecuador and Peru chocolates and there are differences, however they do have different cocoa and sugar levels so whatever. I will forever be a wannabe nub!

I love coffee. Tastes so good. Mmmmmmmmm….

  • Zensation tea house

So this weekend I went to Zensation, after I was asked the question, “which is better, The Tea Centre or T2?” and the answer that good old Google gave me was “ZENSATION”

The only thing that I wasn’t sure about was the fact that they don’t sell black teas, only the asian stuff. However, when I got there, it didn’t matter, because the place was so awesome looking with an awesome dog looking after the place.

  • Hot/cold Dyson

So I just found out Dyson now makes an air multiplier that does hot AND cold. That is my dream come truueeee!

    I must have one.

Although I agree with my brother that it is not the prettiest design, but meh

  • TGV brains

I’ve decided I’m going to try and coin the term “TGV brain” because I think it sounds cool. I told my brother and he thought I was silly, since he figures that it’s too obscure. But that’s the best bit, because I love being obscure so that no one understands me ๐Ÿ™‚ I got it from the crazy people on TV who can deduce things super ultra fantastic quick.

Also I would love to collect all different types of teas and brew them cause it’s cool.

  • Jugemu Shimbashi

So I’ve been here 3 times, and I agree with online reviews that this is a hideously overpriced Japanese restaurant, but the food is so beautifully good that the cost is justified. I really like the fact that it’s two restaurants in one as well. It’s no ordinary noodle/ramen/sushi shop – instead they do soba and okonomiyaki. Mmmmmmm

  • Vampirachnids etc.

The other night I had a fantastic dream where I had to save the world yet again from the neverending forces of evil. My special powers this time round included invisibility, flight and the ability to dissipate into a gas/steam-like substance. I was on the hunt for floating pieces of magical bronze armour while evading the detection of enemies who patrolled each area. The first piece I touched was easy, and it immediately evaporated. I still had to get out of there quickly, since touching one took me to another plane where I had to escape a dense cloud of explosive pink orbs.

The second (and last) piece I had to extinguish was much tougher to do, as the patrol here was an ice lady. As I rushed towards the armour, I conjured ice around her neck and threw her into some nearby water, because fighting ice with ice was totally the logical and correct thing to do. I may have had a sidekick at this point, as I tried to then freezeย the ice ladyย in the water. I was most definitely a genius in my dream. GENIUS.

  • Reaffirmation of eccentricity

This post is just to confirm that I am the ultimate genius for making an all powerful entity that actually has a vegetable peeler mode.

    THAT IS ALL.

  • Aeropress!

This week I finally managed to summon the courage (i.e. work the sorcerous voodoocraft) to visit Swallow and get the brewstation goodies. I’m always terrified that if I order fancy coffee, the baristas will start talking about crazy flavour profiles that I simply don’t understand.

We got lucky this week since they were already in the middle of making an aeropress coffee, so I just took my time to stare at it, all the while thinking “YES THIS IS THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO SAY HEY LETS TRY THAT.” So we ordered our aeropresses and sat down at the table.

  • OMG my blog dieded ;_;

    It broke and everything exploded.

I will be melting my mind trying to restore things ๐Ÿ™‚

In other news I ate an awesome rhubarb pavlova from Bill’s in Darlinghurst today. The cream offset the tartness of the rhubarb very nicely, and the meringue was made with brown sugar, which was different. The added honey I think wasn’t necessary, but did add another bit of flavour to it. Now my taste for pavlova has been forever snobbified!
