  • Ice cream run

    Wow it’s been about 20 years since I’ve last drawn anime fanart. I never really drew my own stuff, I was always copying screenshots, so finally I decided I would try to draw my own poses. It turned out okayish but I really have to get better at hands and anatomy!

    I think this would turn out better with colour. I really only wanted to draw fuzzy white eyelashes after my Ethereal set; since I had blonde characters in that, I was tempted, but I didn’t want to deviate from my usual in that piece. How cute are Koko and Jonah!

    Oh yeah, in my head, this is Jonah trying ice cream for the first time. He has no idea which flavour to start with, so Koko buys him one scoop while she herself gets two, but she tells him if he likes it she’ll buy more for him 😀

  • E T H E R E A L

    Yay it’s finally done!

    I thought my hand was totally going to die since I don’t use a tablet enough to use it well; I keep death gripping the stylus and my hand was twitching uncontrollably.

    I can’t wait to go back to some pencil drawings and destroy my back instead!

    The Ethereal set – Ristrel, Syndrafiel, Yverrine, Fool. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a four character panel or more/less; when I was looking through my records, I had the option of adding Entropy (who I’ve never drawn, even in concept) and the Ethereal Angel (I forgot her name, it’s too long and I never mention it), but I also didn’t have design for her. So just the four main ones it was!

    I drew each one separately so their heights and sizes aren’t quite right, but the whole goal of this was to get a standalone yet flowing background for each of them, that was definitely fun to do!

  • I’ll Tear Through You Like This Baguette

    Part of my out of context baguette series! I wanted to draw a finished picture of one of my characters with a random baguette, and decided it’d be fun to do one with Freik chomping on one in a threatening manner. Then, somehow I also wondered if the demons of my world are kind of like monotremes, since they’re mammal like, but also egg laying. That then lead to the fattypus on the t-shirt, after I realised Freik in a platypus onesie didn’t quite look right haha.

    And that anime finger whorl! I finally drew one!

  • Drones Up in the Sky

    A group picture where I chickened out of the background! Yay! lol. I am definitely still not ready to take on a perspective background, though I did think about how George St looks in Sydney. I also feel like now I’ve definitely drawn enough of some of my characters that I no longer need their face in the shot, so this not-face angle of Irutha was fun to draw! I still have no idea what Broen’s costume is or what colour his hair should be!

  • Somm Night In

    Whoops I forgot to actually upload this as soon as I’d finished it. I saw a photo of a master sommelier sniffing wine with his pinky in the air and it was so hilarious that I had to draw my own version of it, so Ris, Soulfear, and Freik took on their sommelier personas once again (this is the first time Freik gets to play somm!). Freik kind of got squished at the end though, and when I tried to redraw it to give him more space, I ran out of focus and the whole thing turned out terrible, so I stuck with this version.

    Why did I give Freik a shot of whisky instead of partaking in the enjoyment of some barolo? I have no idea lol

  • Yverrine in colour + 5 years

    Just a colour comparison in this post! The original Yverrine drawing pre-dates 2018 but I’ve been happy with the pencil versions through the years, so this is just reflecting on how she looks in colour, since these are the only two versions I have. I would still like her to have a few more leaves than what I drew in this time, but she lost the extra tendrils and leaves over the iterations of her design. I think in this case, simpler is better! She looks crosseyed in the 2023 colour, because I’m still bad with faces.

    I managed to get more shine and saturation in compared to Ris’ panel, but the wood armour is lacking depth and definition.

    Maybe I’ll get to work on her again in a few years!

  • The evolution of Reign

    So much progress, but still so far from where I want to be!

    It’s also cool to see what I kept and what I changed! The only thing I forgot to carry over was the beads for the crown (I was debating whether or not to keep it anyway); instead of it being held up by physics, I guess it’s now held up by magic!

    I gotta figure out how to make a more saturated piece using Clip Studio Pro. It was easy with dodge in Photoshop but I’m trying to create my own colours now and it’s hard!

  • Life the Ethereal | E T H E R E A L

    Have I posted with a “Life the Ethereal” title before?

    This one is technically called Life, the Ethereal, but I’m hoping it will be a four panel series with my other Ethereals! Am I ambitious? Yes I am, at the worst time too! I just started playing Hades again and it’s a time sink and distracting me!

    I wasn’t sure if this sketch would work out, I feel like I should now always draw Diadresca in her skeleton form, but it’s so challenging! And then I wrecked Tohmiel lol.

  • Makrie Drinks Bubble Tea

    I didn’t actually intend for this drawing to turn out how it did! I walked through an underpass lately with a “post no bills” sign and thought to myself, I should draw something that has that poster in the background. The vibe of it had to be similar to this world, so it ended up being Arridon. At first I thought maybe Irutha would be the one waiting here, but I’ve been drawing plenty of her, so the next best fit was Makrie. Why not bubble tea! That idea came after. I’m not even sure the world has bubble tea. Then I thought, this should have more meaning than just a random drinking bubble tea in an underpass. So, I figured, there should be graffiti. Meaningful graffiti, and considering I am still in a “the pigeons are drones” phase, it would be fitting for there to be messaging about taking down the government or something. So after a quick Google crash course on how to do graffiti fonts (I really hate artception; tattoos and graffiti and the like are so difficult to make up on the spot!), I went with the phrase “blind the drones”, meaning hide from the pigeons. But I still need an artist tag or something, right? So there was another piece that was meant to be on here for “see no eyes”, but maybe that’s the signature left on the original graffiti – it’d just be “SNE” and it’d be roughly behind Makrie’s head. The final decision to be made was whether or not the whole wall was made of bricks, and I really didn’t want to draw that, so it’s just concrete!

    Making an actual full piece with background is so difficult ugh!
