  • Not a normal superpower dream

My crazy dreams are back for the time being, but not quite the same as they used to be. I love my save the world with superpowers dreams, but haven’t had any in a long time.

At least this time my superpowers were back. Well, it wasn’t actually me. I was more of a spectator that shared the same space and consciousness as the person in my dream. It was a character who wanted to run away from his city, because people were trying to kill him. He had to sneak out of his apartment, avoid a lady who was walking toward the apartment, avoid alerting or running into the police, and avoid a massive bomb to escape.

So he ran. The first time, the lady spotted him and then called the police. He managed to run down one street before pretty much ending up exactly where some policemen were stationed, so that was the end of that. The dream “whited out” and the scenario reset.

Next attempt, he decided he would shapeshift into a cat to be silent and to better evade the lady at the apartment. This worked out much better – though from his perspective there was still what felt like an audible thump as he jumped down a set of stairs and proceeded to dash in the opposite direction from the previous scene, and once he felt relatively safe, he transformed back into a human. He was on the left side of a river that ran through the city, when he passed a pole that lit up with red when he passed it – which happened to be the trigger for a bomb going off in the distance – but close enough that he would be caught in the blast. Once again, the scenario reset.

Third time, he again escaped as a cat and this time ran on the right side of the river, far away enough so that he wouldn’t trigger the sensor. But… a bigger bomb went off. A white wash again, and now I returned to my real self, in front of a witch-like lady, who held a tiny half robotic man in her hand. She explained that he never did make it, and that it was all a dream – at which point I was thinking “wow this is such a bad ending to a story”

And that was pretty much it. How random! For once the super powers in my dream were being used to unsuccessfully escape. I hope I do get another save the world dream in the future!

  • Beauteous Destruction

Each point of change is an opportunity to alter the element’s next state, so that you are in essence, redefining the future. Or pulling a specific future to the element, depending on your view. The free flow is beautiful, but also a weakness that can be exploited by the right hands – one that can reach between the infinitesimal time and space can then manipulate the next form in the next moment, and I am compelled to see an unravelling, for doing so is also is an art, both in its elegance as well as the genius in the careful reverse engineering. Destruction does not kill, it still flows in the timeline as the element’s future as it is always meant to be, and the goal is not the perfection of the final result, but the perfection of the deconstruction to the most basic element, allowing the force of freedom to recreate from the very beginning – so that, in mortal terms, each creation is as significant as the birth of a star.”

“Very good. That is what our master is; he only destroys to allow chaos to create, facilitating freedom in its purest form. As he is an Immortal, his limits are clearly defined, so how will you decide what is to be changed by your hands, and what is to be left alone?”

“Balance. I too, am made of the very elements I have described to be susceptible to destruction, so my death is waiting for me out there. As I am me, I do what I will with this consciousness and hence conscience, for only when I no longer believe, will I lose myself and therefore have become death, and thus reborn.”

Yep I write some crazy stuff sometimes.

  • That one really weird dream

That is actually many random dreams all smooshed into a single night’s REM session after consuming kudu loin dressed with strawberries….

It all started with a whole bunch of peole and myself, and possibly two old people who were tourists, all gathered around a bus or ferry terminal trying to determine where to go. After much thought, I’m sure I some of us ended up swimming around to whatever destination we were after. Unlike most dreams where I interact with water, I didn’t actually feel wet after the swim in this one.

A scene jump happened, and I ended up back home, only to greet my mum in the middle of a cockroach infestation. I was hiding behind a couch while my mum was on the other side of it, stamping some big brown cockroaches as they landed after flying around – the ground was a mess! Some came out from beneath the couch while some were in the air. I also killed a few, but the more we squished, the more that spawned, until I eventually fled the scene.

  • Oranjezicht Organic City Farm

Whenever I talk about my discoveries, the locals actually seem confused about how I come across fantastic things such farmer’s markets, food markets, talks about string theory at steampunk themed cafes, and vintage markets. Well, I seem to have a hipster sense about me.

So, it’s not surprising that I found this gem of a market in a wonderfully picturesque place that’s not too far out from the city – a place that I remember because it sounds like “orange” – Oranjezicht City Farm.

  • What a different world

Before I came here, I was reassuring everyone that Cape Town wasn’t that dangerous and wasn’t plagued with ebola. This is still true! It is a pain having to be so much more cautious and placing a curfew on myself so that I’m not alone outside after the sun sets, but I’m still having a lot of fun!

I am starting to get a little over high end food though, but because of how spoilt I’ve been, I continue to cringe when I receive badly prepared food – which means I have a very narrow range of places to visit that will satisfy me and not break the bank.

  • Hello, Cape Town

Having a job that takes me places is super cool, so here I am on my 5th continent visited. I had no idea what to expect in terms of costs, people, food, or anything, since my decision to visit was a very spur of the moment thing. Being the wannabe foodie that I am, I was super curious to go cafe hunting – restaurants not so much. Since I have a goal to save money, I was more interested in the mid-range food bracket than high end. Turns out there are some tasty places here!

First thing’s first – Table Mountain!
