  • Another dream, another mystery

So I’ve been reading back on my past blogs and it turns out I blog about my dreams! I figured this one is blog worthy too.

It all started when a bunch of friends and myself were asked to save the world from a big evil doom (not sure if those last three words strung together make sense). As my weapon, I took my violin bow. Not the violin, just the bow. If I waved it around, then it became deadly somehow, except that I didn’t tighten my bow because apparently it had to be left loose, but then all my waving andΒ whackingΒ it about caused the hairs/strands to come loose, so then I started to tighten it.

During all this, we had to catch numerous buses and trains to where we needed to go. Luckily, one of my friends offered me a new bow that I could use, turns out she had an electric violin she didn’t use. Eventually after a lot of travel we ended up on a giant mansion-like building. In my dream the word mansion didn’t pop up – just a big house of sorts. We split up to try and find the bad guys, and for some reason I no longer had my bow.

Unlike most other “save the world” dreams, I didn’t have invisibility in this one. It was instead replaced with the ability to shapeshift – very rare for me to experience this! I could also walk through some walls, mostly glass window things though. Anyway, so I looked out of a window of this house and saw a black cat with these bright yellow eyes meowing really loudly at me. I then figured I should trick this cat, so I morphed into a black cat, walked through the window and onto the wall that the cat was on. I started pawing at this purple flower thing, and that caught the other cat’s interest. I knew that this flower was poisonous to cats but not to me, so I nibbled on a bit of it, which lead the cat to eat some too, and I must have psychically forced it to eat a bit cause then it died. And my only thought after that was “ok, now that Meowth is dead, what will Pokemon do with the series and Team Rocket???”

With the cat gone, we could now explore the rest of the house. I had two people with me and we were wondering how to defeat the bad guy. The bad guy was actually in a room that was down some stairs. He was totally calm but you could tell he knew exactly what was going on. He was in fact performing on some musical instrument to half a room of audience, and we knew that they were his henchmen. So with only three of us and about thirty of them, what were we going to do?

Sadly, that’s where my memory of my dream ended. I’m sure I never dreamed the ending either, so it will continue to be a mystery.

In other thoughts, I should create myself an “IRSC” card – which would stand for “Irresponsible service of caffeine” which would allow me to overdose myself on coffee πŸ™‚

  • Reine’s cooking adventures part 2

I love mussels, so when I found some at another seafood store, I was YES PLEASE. I didn’t even know how much to get, so I started with 250g. Turns out this is about 11-12 mussels, and never enough! However when I was reading up on how to cook them, I also grabbed a baguette and butter as a side.

I had found a few different liquids suggested, and ended up choosing water first, with some butter. I did make one afterwards with white wine, but funnily enough I preferred the one with water.

  • Reine’s cooking adventures part 1

Re-doing this blog so that I can actually post progress pictures and nice photos of how my cooking went.

Part 1, my first real time actually experimenting with food. The house/cat-sitting time doesn’t really count πŸ˜›

After the ceviche, the next thing I made was tuna tataki. There’s this place called Central Markets and it’s the best place ever! There’s so many fruit and veg stalls, as well as several seafood shops. And lots of protein. Mmmm all kinds of protein!

Anyway, so having never made anything that required paying a lot of attention, I think my tataki came out very nicely. As I hadn’t explored every stall, my salad was still very basic, with quinoa everywhere!

  • Living the radelaide

So work has called me to Adelaide, to like, do things and stuff, including eat, cook and explore. Oh, and actually work.

But during non work hours it turns out I really don’t have time to work on the story that will never end. Instead I’m constantly debating where and what to eat, which cafes to go to, and whether I can find enough food to cook up something and somehow save money.

So my experiment has been living without “sugar” (have honey and agave syrup instead), making wholemeal spelt pancakes and messing with other things, such as undercooking fish πŸ™‚

Here are some of the things I’ve done. I wish I had a nice picture of some food from a cafe called A Mothers Milk – they make some amazing baked eggs mmmmmmmmm but instead all I’ve got is a very bad shot from the outside:

  • Home Cupping + Zumbo

    Hallo!

An interim post as I’m too lazy to actually put effort into making a blog about my Adelaide/Melbourne trip of caffeine.

So in the meantime here is my attempt at home cupping without any instructions! Plus some obligatory Zumbo pictures πŸ™‚

Basically I bought some Proud Mary Brazil CoE (can’t remember which) in Melbourne, roasted on 18/10 – that’s on the left. Then today I went to Reuben Hills and got some Kenya Nyeri, also roasted on 18/10 – that’s on the right. Since I have no idea how to cupping (yes), I made it up by putting 7g of each in roughly 175mL water.

  • FTL: I won the game!

So I’ve been playing this game called FTL: Faster Than Light and it’s very fun! Very frustrating and I totally hate it at times, but I like the fact that I can make a boat collection because I like collecting things.

I finally won! Without even trying to beat the boss cause I was after the “collecting every system + subsystem” achievement. And also contrary to the screenshot I beated it on normal πŸ™‚ Now my entire body hurts from freaking out.

    I really need to buy a good grinder + scales + thermometer + aero/V60

  • Photoshop Takes Zero Skill

Random post that I might move/delete/etc

    I love coffee.

Plus my ability to utterly destroy things πŸ˜€

Basically many years back in order to try and make my rough sketches look “good,” I decided that I would make fun of people who abused Photoshop with stuff like lens flare, and basically filter stuff until it was no longer recognisable… or anything near what it was. And I called it Photoshop Takes Zero Skill!

The only rule is to run sketches through every filter possible!

  • There is no life after death, only death

I love my dreams because they are awesome.

Last last night I had a dream that I died found out what lies on the other side – another death! Muahahahahaha. I am amazing when it comes to not waking up when dying in a dream.

Anyway, so the whole story was: I was just doing my own thing when one day this evil gang-thing started targeting me and trying to make me do their bidding. I refused to listen to them and continued to do my own thing, which made them angrier. So then they made threats against my friends and family, so I decided to go to my manager at work and let him know and he was all like, “don’t worry, we’ll protect you!” but I was very skeptical. In the end it didn’t work because the evil people laced food with cyanide and fed it to my friends.

For some reason I decided that because of this I would also eat some cyanide ham, because if I died then they wouldn’t be able to bend me to their will. Or whatever. Then the evil people freaked out, telling me to stop eating it as it wasn’t part of the plan, but I refused. Eventually I started feeling terrible, with a sore throat and that’s when I knew I was dying. It was uncomfortable but then I got used to it and accepted my fate. Once I actually died, lo and behold, I was in some unknown location with some unknown person. I was very confused, so the person next to me explained that I was now dead, and that what now happens is that I get to “live out being dead” for another 4 years, but each of the year was the equivalent of 12 years… so technically I had 48 years before I would die again.

So I wandered around a bit wasting time, when all of a sudden I get a text message asking me to go to work for an hour because there was a meeting I had to attend. But this was on my day off, so I’m not sure why it was so important for me to go. Plus I figured that I could just get an extra day of bereavement leave, since technically I qualified for it since I was grieving my own death. Totally.

I think this dream was so much more interesting and action packed than the other dream I had back in August 2004 sometime when I was in a palace with red carpet and walls and golden pillars, and some guy in a white suit shot me with a really really shiny silver gun. That’s how I died, but then I floated away as a spirit and watched my body fall over. And then I ended up attending my own funeral because I was somehow still alive but mourning my death.

Yes, I am in love with my brain.
