iiNode and the P

So today I found out that iiNet bought Internode, which now makes the iiNode machine. That was very exciting news indeed, and probably means a lot of changes to everything internet related and another attack from TPG prevented. Yaaaay! Also, I ate two fruit mince pies today. I have a weird relationship with fruit mince pies. I don't particularly like the flavour but I do enjoy them as they only come out once a year. The ones from Pattison's Pattiserie are the best. Can't remember what the ones from Baker's Delight taste like, but the ones from Workshop Espresso are a little too dry for my liking (also they are $4), and the ones from Becasse in Westfield Sydney are too moist and large, becoming a rather overwhelming experience for me. Since the Pattison's are only $2.50 and have just the right balance of fruit and jam for the perfect size and moistness, they are the most awesome :)And there's more P in the fact that I now have half a wardrobe full of Pilgrim clothes. I like that store, and Portmans for some reason. They have really pretty stuff and it gets way cheaper than RRP, though technically they're still a little on the expensive side.PIEEEEEE

Welcome to the gingerbread family

I would almost make an ice cream sandwich pun, but that would have been very bad.Went to Swallow this morning in the hopes of interesting nibbles. Alas, there was no fruit mince pie, but there was a gingerbread family to be had! It wasn't until I got home and opened it that I realised that it was an entire family for real.

What I've noticed was that a lot of the small-batch, in-house stuff can be a little unpredictable. It's definitely cute that they're all different colours of burnt-ness, but they did taste a little too much of baking powder. I know this because there was this one time my mum made some cookies and we had to throw them all away because there was nothing but the flavour of bicarb soda in them  :(

Also,  I've finally decided to accept my mum's opinion that water orbs, while pretty, are bad for plants. These are the tiny little balls that absorb water and expand to giant jelly like things that are fun to play with, and are sold as being pretty vase fillers. However, flowers die really fast in them and my bamboo plant isn't as green as the ones outside because of them, so I think one day I will get rid of them. GOODBYE FUNKY ROOT PICS

And a few days with my new phone and I've already made it crash. Still getting used to some of the settings,  like the inability to customise the number of home screens and the fact that I have to have a google search bar at the top, and the set icons down the bottom. However it's definitely a lot smoother than my old milestone. Today I  played around with a drawing app, got out of it and was doing normal phone things when all of a sudden my phone froze. Then it randomly shut down and wouldn't turn on again. Weird thing was, the phone kept getting hotter and hotter, so I ended up taking the battery out and it went back down to normal temperature. So I put the battery back in and everything was fine. Yum Android lol.

Galaxus Nexy

Hooray for the Galaxy Nexus! Finally got released today, so I decided to visit the (apparently) single Telstra store to go check the price of one. I was thinking about buying it online as I was worried the outright price would have been over $900, but I got a mostly pleasant surprise when I found out it was actually much cheaper than that. However, Telstra was quite fail, claiming they were incredibly busy that day -  when there seemed to be only one person "qualified"  to sell contracts to people. Everyone else was just a sales rep who couldn't actually tell me how long the warranty on my phone is. I'll quite safely assume it's one year. There was another person there who was after the Galaxy Nexus, and had apparently been waiting for half an hour to get his hands on one. Eventually he was ushered off to a dark corner to sign his life away, but luckily the sales people realised all I wanted to do was buy it outright, not sign a contract, so they said I could line up and talk to a lady who could do the "simple"  things.Overall, it took an absurdly long time to actually obtain my phone, and I have learned that at Telstra, buying a phone on contract involves the sales lady making at least 5 trips to a random small room behind the counter, and it takes 10 minutes to retrieve the phone itself.Once I got home I found my first gripe with the phone almost straight away - the plastic back panel takes ages to fit into place, because not every side clipped in properly. I never had that much difficulty with my old phone as being a Motorola Milestone, had a deadly metal back panel that slid off. This one was bendy and flimsy feeling, so I hope I don't need to take off the cover too often. It's also way way waaaaay lighter, so much so that I almost wonder if there's a super heavy cover I can get for it, as I would prefer my phone to be capable of breaking someone's skull should I need to throw it.The other thing that I'm sure I'll get used to is the fact that everything is the wrong way around. The volume rocker is on the right instead of left, the headphone jack is on the bottom instead of the top, the power button is to the right rather than on top, and the micro USB port is on the bottom instead of the right. What sorcery is this! XDApart from that, I'm looking forward to playing with it, customising it and generally not having it freeze and crash on me like my old phone. I also hope the headphone jack doesn't die, but that is probably wishing for too much, as,  just like peaches and fuji apples, I appear to be cursed with these things and they always fail me, let me down, almost kill me, rot, etc.

Logi + techs

I did some mostly-impulse shopping and I blame my brother for some of it  :)I managed to take some pictures of my Ultrabook,  though it comes with so many names and it doesn't help that I always try and call it a netbook,  so it actually comes out of my mouth as net-note-laptop-ultra-zenbook or a variant of that. It's so shiny and thin!!!! The first thing I did when I walked into JB Hi-fi (because I am old fashioned and need to hold it and take it home) was head straight to it and feel the temperature. I must have looked like a nerd! Or not. On the adapter it had felt pretty hot,  so I was a little worried about whether it'd cook and burn everything. After fiddling with it for a few days now,  the only time it got me worried was playing Skyrim on low quality for about 10 minutes. Other than that,  I love the SSD and sleekness. Do I believe in love at first sight? Only for random luxury items! There was also a Logitech sale that my brother pointed out to me. I had been considering buying a spare mouse for a while,  but never bothered. But since I was on a spending spree,  I figured a good mouse for $19 was too good to pass up. Just in case my current mouse dies. You never know! While I was at it,  I was also in the market for new earphones with a mic. Mic compulsory. So there were some Ultimate Ears 400vi,  so I bought them. I originally had my eye on some Audio Technica CKS55i cause THEY ARE RED,  but these came up and my brother says the UEs are really good. So I ended up with that too,  and they were shipped super fast! Now these new earphones are funny because they don't yet fit my ears. I hope I got the bud size right,  since I tend to fail at a lot of these things. They are a lot warmer and bass-ier than my old cheapo $20 ATs,  so I'm sure I'll grow to love these too. They also isolate noise moreso than my old ones,  so currently I'm half deaf and yelling at everyone. Probably means I can't walk around with these in my ears either;  my psychicness is only so good at warning me of oncoming invisible trucks and the like. Ugh.PIKTUR

Oyster flavours and Zenbooks

So for the last few days I've been getting the flavour of oyster in my mouth. These haven't been cravings - just that my mouth suddenly tastes like the flavour of oyster, which isn't really pleasant. It's too fishy and no nice sauce taste, and most of the time there's that hint of oyster guts. I'm not crazy at all. However,  I should eat some oysters at some point to get rid of this feeling. Also,  after much yes no yes no, I decided to go get myself a fancy shiny Asus Zenbook,  the UX21 (the better one). Pictures to come! Can't do it right now as it's so gloomy that it's just not right for a photoshoot. Though I can't figure out whether or not I can photoshoot after a day or few of taking it around and smashing it everywhere. So it's just a wall of text today!  :D
